During the First World War warm garments were always in need especially a garment that gave easy range of movement and this jerkin vest was quickly development and commonly issued to British soldiers. Most commonly the exterior was made in leather but as leather became harder to come back jerkins started to be made in cotton. Historically they were lined in a thick blanket wool, this jerkin is slightly different in that it is lined with the famous Harris Tweed. The jerkin pictured is like the originals in that it does not have pockets but two exterior or interior pockets are available as an option. The jerkin makes for a very useful and hard wearing outer layer and can easily be worn over a jacket but if you just want it as a normal vest just order a size smaller. A wide variety of Harris Tweed is available. Available in sizes 34 to 46. If you have any questions please ask!

Every item made on this website are handmade by me. I do the entire process from beginning to the end. I select all fabric, draft every pattern, and sew every item. Due to the time involved in this process since most every item is made to order it is a time consuming process. Depending on my work load it can take upwards of 1 to 2 months depending on the garment made. I work to get the finished product to you as quickly as possible. If you have a time constraint please feel free contact me to see my current turn around time.
