This kilt is a reproduction of the first sewn kilts which were created circa 1790 and were common in the early 1800s. This early style kilt has box pleats in the rear, linen lining on the inside and is kept in place with cloth ties. These first sewn kilts were before formal clan tartans so the plaids/tartans used were not distinct to a specific name with many looking very different to the formal tartans of today[The one exception is the government tartan known today as Black Watch]. However, slowly in the 1800s clan tartans started to be made. This kilt will be made from 100% wool from a variety of non clan tartans but if you are interested in a specific tartan please contact me as I can get a variety of modern tartan. Available in waist sizes 30 to 44 inches. If you have any questions please contact me.
